We are starting a regular developer diary so you can see what we are building and why. Every feature on this list came from your feedback. If something you asked for is not here yet, it is still on our list — we prioritize by what the community asks for most.

About this post: This developer diary was first shared with the StarNote community on Reddit. The timelines below reflect our plans at the time of writing.

Phase 1: tables and smart inversion

Two of the most requested additions are landing first.

  • Tables — create and edit tables directly inside a note, without falling back to drawing rules by hand. Useful for study schedules, comparison grids, and structured lecture notes.
  • Smart inversion — invert colors intelligently so dark-mode reading stays legible without flattening your handwriting or highlights.

Phase 2: audio import, export, and handwriting sync

Audio is the next big piece, and it is designed to work with your handwriting rather than alongside it.

  • Audio import and export — bring recordings into a notebook and take them back out again.
  • Audio and handwriting sync — link a recording to the strokes you made while it played, so replaying a lecture replays the page as you wrote it.

Cloud sync: in full development

This is the feature we get asked about most, so here is the honest status: development is in full swing, and we are targeting a Q2 launch.

We know “coming soon” is not what you want to hear after waiting this long. We would rather ship it working than ship it early.

Also in the pipeline

Beyond the items above, several other highly requested features are in progress. We will share details as each one gets close to release.

Thank you for being part of this. The goal is not just another note app — it is a tool you actually reach for every day.
