It has been a while since the last diary. We have been turning your requests into actual features — slower than anyone would like, but each step is a solid one.

About this post: This developer diary was first shared with the StarNote community on Reddit. The timelines below reflect our plans at the time of writing.

Android: in progress

Dual-window support with independent layer control

Previously, opening the same note in two windows forced the layers to stay in sync. We have added a Layer Sync toggle.

  • Turn the toggle off and each window can display a different set of layers.
  • Note that this controls layer display only — the note content itself stays synced in real time.

Video upload in Help and Feedback

Screenshots only go so far. You can now attach a screen recording to a bug report or suggestion, which makes it far easier for us to see what you are seeing.

iOS: in progress

  • Audio-Ink Sync — the feature that replays your handwriting alongside the recording is close.
  • Note counts for folders and tags — see how many notes each folder or tag holds at a glance.
  • Video upload for feedback — matching Android, so reports are easier to act on.

Cloud sync: the beta plan

The feature everyone has been waiting for is now in beta planning. We are being deliberately careful here, because sync touches every note you own.

  • Scale — we are looking for 10 to 15 core users for the first round.
  • Timeline — recruitment posts were expected around late May to early June.
  • Why a small group — data safety comes first. A small, deep-test round lets us find the failure modes before real notebooks depend on them.

If you want in, keep an eye on the subreddit and on the in-app announcement.
